Halloween
Between the bounce house, Johnny's 4th birthday party, Oliver's pre-school party, and finally Halloween the kids have had a pretty fun week. Check out all the pictures and captions.
Kassi's 30th Birthday
Pictures from my birthday. I got a new camera so we've had fun playing around with it and trying to figure out the many funtions and features. :)

Late August-Early October
Here is a slide show of what we've been up to lately. These last few days have finally been cooler and much appreciated. We spent the morning at the zoo with friends and had a great time. Oliver has started preschool two days a week and loves going. Harlan wishes she could go to school, but sometimes I take her to MDO when I have somewhere I need to be. Another exciting event is that Harlan is potty trained (fingers crossed) after just a few weeks of her deciding to do it 'by self' as she says. I am thrilled to not have to buy diapers anymore! We are excited for the month of October as I have a big birthday coming up and we have lots of fun fall activities planned. More pictures to come I am sure.

Little Ruffle Skirt
I've been busy sewing just about every day, but most of them are Christmas gifts so I can't post them just yet or I'll give away the surprise. :) I crafted up this little skirt today out of a pair of pants that weren't that cute and way too long on H. I cut the legs off and added a double ruffle, which is hard to tell from the pictures. I plan on putting her in brown tights and wearing this skirt with her brown boots, if the fall weather ever decides to make it's way to California. Total this project cost $4.40 which included the pants and fabric. :) Now it looks like I've over worked my machine and I need to have it looked at, I think it decided it needs a vacation because it's not working. :- /

Us girls in the matching skirts I made for us. It's such a challenge to get that girl to sit still for a photo. She refused to stand so this is what I ended up with.
Laptop case I made for Jeff's new tablet. I thought it turned out pretty neat, although, it's not as perfect as I would have liked it to be. The instructions made no sense to me so I figured out my own method. Jeff wanted the mustache to be pink and I said "uh...I don't think so".
Side view. I forgot to sew the sides and had all finished edges so I made these little strips to keep everything where it's supposed to be.
Inside view
My goofy goofy kids. Oliver chose these glasses tonight out of his treasure box for eating all of his dinner. Now he's all excited and says he has reading glasses like his Grandaddy.
Harlan wanted her turn wearing them. She's also showing off her infamous spider man move, which she loves doing on a daily basis and says "I'm spider man". I have no idea where she's even seen spider man before by the way. If spider man was a little cuter that's what she would be for Halloween. :)

I decided to go ahead and make the skirt to match the birthday shirt, which I made for a baby shower. See below the other creations I've crafted up this week...
My little model showing off the ribbon skirt.
Mother/daughter skirts. Wasn't shopping for fabric, but saw this print and couldn't resist. Bought all they had left, came home and ended up having enough for both Harlan and I one. All it cost was about $6 each. Hope to post another picture on Sunday of us actually wearing them. :)
I bought these ugly cheap wall lights, but it's all I could find.
Made a cord cover and did a redo on the lampshades since I couldn't find any to buy in my town.
2 to match the living room, and 1 to match the front room. All with supplies I already had!

More Sewing!
Here is what I've crafted up the last few days. I've been keeping my machine hot hot hot every spare minute I've got with two munchkins!
Set of shirts I appliqued for a baby shower. Considering making a skirt to go with the birthday/cupcake tee. Shower isn't for another few weeks so please don't post on FB :)

Back of Christmas onesie :)
Pajamas pants and appliqued shirt I made for Oliver.

Upcycled Skinny Jeans!
UPDATED from yesterday...now with added photos of matching pillowcase shirt!
As some of you know I've taken up sewing, my new latest and greatest hobby. :) I had a 4 session sewing class that taught me the basics to get my craft on! I will try to post the pictures of projects I made in the class, but this one I did all on my own today during nap time! I have been wanting to add ruffles of some of Harlan's jeans and this is what I came up with. She had these 'skinny jeans' that were way too long (as is the issue with most of her pants). I got them along with a bag of other used clothes that I bought for cheap from someone whose daughter outgrew them. I love this idea of what the internet world calls "upcycling" which is crafting new things out of something old! Let me know what you think, I think they turned out cute and it didn't cost me anything...all material were stuff I had laying around. :)

Family Pictures June '12
I had a photographer take pictures of us in the park. I thought they turned out really well and it helped that the kids cooperated!
Six Flags
We have season passes to Six Flags this year and here are some photos from the last few visits.
Las Vegas, May 2012
I just realized that I haven't posted anything on the blog for a long time! So I am going to do some catch up work and fill you in on what we've been up to since Easter! As I sit here and type I've got kids swarming me full of energy and full of life. You will be able to see that in the pictures I post. We had a very busy month of May. The kids and I were gone for 3 weeks traveling back to Missouri and then on to Vegas. Here are some of the photos from our 4 day stay in Sin City.

Easter Egg Hunt #1
Our mommies group had an Easter egg hunt and brunch today, which was lots of fun. I realized that neither kid is good at hunting eggs. Oliver wants to open each one after picking it up and Harlan could care less. HA! Either way they had a good time and hopefully it prepared them for our big church eggstravaganza on Saturday.

Valentine's Day 2012
Valentine's Day was fairly uneventful, although, we did get lots of valentines from family and had our special valentines dinner of heart waffles, which Oliver helped make!
Pebble Beach 2012
What a great trip to Pebble Beach we had. We rented a house with some friends from our church and Jeff and Todd attended the AT&T Pro-Am while Anna and I stayed behind and wrangled kids. Our babysitter came along too, which made the whole trip a little easier! I always feel like I need a vacation after a vacation, but I guess that's to be expected with having 4 kinds barely under 3 all in one house. :)

Harlan's First Birthday!
Harlan had a good first birthday! We were all still feeling a little ill on her actual birthday (Tuesday), but I did manage to take the kids to the store to get her birthday balloons. We made cupcakes and she had her birthday party today at Build-A-Bear. I say she made out pretty well this year! What an awesome year we've had, we are truly blessed. Harlan is taking several steps in a row and will be walking on her own before we know it!
